What can you expect from Randolph United Methodist Church and East Pittston United Methodist Church?

“Open hearts. Open minds. Open doors.”

This is the motto of the United Methodist Church. You probably saw it on our opening page. You may have even heard it on the radio or seen it on television. At Randolph United Methodist Church and East Pittston United Methodist Church, you will see this motto put into practice. But what does it really mean?

“Open hearts.”

Our hearts are open to all people, and we try to be concerned about things that matter, rather than the superficial. We affirm that all people are created in God’s image, and are therefore innately deserving of love, compassion, and respect. Your age, race, ethnicity, marital status, disability, financial condition; your clothing, your past, or anything else that might make you feel “different”, does not matter. What matters to us is that you hunger to know an abundant life. Our churches welcome you as you are, without qualification, because we ourselves have experienced an abundant life in God's all-inclusive love.

“Open minds.”

We seek through worship, study, and fellowship to provide a nurturing environment for personal Christian growth, equipping us to live as the people of God in the world, and empowering us to minister in Christ’s name to those in need. The founder of Methodism, John Wesley, believed that the vibrant life of the Christian faith is revealed in Scripture, illuminated by tradition, lived in personal experience, and confirmed by reason. These principles continue to guide our churches in our worship and fellowship, and in our understanding of God’s word and works.

“Open doors.”

All are welcome in our churches. The young are valued as much as the elderly. Life long believers are valued as much as those who seek answers. First time guests are valued as much as folks with perfect attendance. But more than this, the people in our churches reach out to one another and to the surrounding communities. Our doors are not open only to gain entrance. They are also open that we may go forth and share the Good News though word and deed. Our "open doors" definitely accommodate two way traffic.

What can you expect from Randolph United Methodist Church and East Pittston United Methodist Church? Nothing less than the love of God in action!

About the United Methodist Church

A broad spectrum of theology, from liberal to conservative, is represented in United Methodism, reflecting founder John Wesley’s attitude toward religious tolerance:

In things essential, unity.

In things non-essential, diversity.

In all things, charity.
