We celebrate Holy Communion on the first Sunday of every month. All are welcome.

Special Worship,

Advent and Christmas,

Hanging of the Greens.

This worship service, on the first Sunday of Advent, centers on the Christian meaning of the wreath, evergreen boughs, holly berries, Christmas tree, mistletoe, poinsettias, “Chrismons”, and other ornamentation as we decorate the sanctuary for the Advent and Christmas seasons.

Blue Christmas.

Also known as The Longest Night Service, this service is held on the winter solstice – the shortest day of the year. For many people and for many reasons, Christmas is a painful time. This service is planned for anyone who finds the Christmas season difficult or sad. It incorporates gentle music, readings, time for quiet reflection, and a brief address. There is also an opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one or as a sign of hope. Perhaps you too need a quiet time for reflection and prayer amidst the crazy rush and hectic chaos of the Christmas season.

Christmas Eve.

Service of Lessons and Carols is held on Christmas Eve . We use the traditional service, “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols”, as we usher in the joy of the birth of our Savior. We conclude our worship with a candlelight singing of Silent Night.

Lent,

Ash Wednesday.

We begin our observance of the Lenten season with a simple bread and soup supper, followed by a worship service, with the imposition of ashes.

Palm Sunday.

We recall Jesus’ triumphant entry into Jerusalem in this morning’s worship service, including the distribution of palms.

Holy Week,

Maundy Thursday Upper Room Meal.

The “Last Supper” that Jesus ate with his disciples in the upper room was a “seder” meal, celebrating the observance of the Jewish religious holiday of Passover. This is an opportunity to learn about the seder, share in an authentic 1st century meal, and reenact the events of the last night of Jesus’ life. Participants are invited to attend in costume.

Good Friday Tenebrae.

A Service of Tenebrae (or “Darkness”) is held at our sister church, Randolph United Methodist Church. Tenebrae is based on a twelfth-century late night service and is an extended meditation on the passion of Christ. During this powerful service of readings and hymns, a candle is extinguished after each Scripture lesson recounting the arrest, trial, and crucifixion of Jesus, eventually leaving the sanctuary in near darkness as we exit in silence to wait for Easter.

Sunrise Service with Breakfast.

Like the first to arrive at the empty tomb, we awaken early to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection with an early morning worship service (time and place to be announced) followed by a parish breakfast at our sister church, Randolph United Methodist Church.

Easter Celebration Worship.

After the darkness of Good Friday, we come together on this most joyous morning to a bright, flower-filled sanctuary. We sing Easter hymns of praise and thanksgiving and share together in Holy Communion.

Blessing of the Animals.

Our Annual Blessing of the Animals takes place at on the first Saturday morning in October, traditionally observed as the “Feast of St. Francis”. The Blessing of the Animals reminds us of the sacredness of all life and provides an opportunity to celebrate the special animals who share our lives
